Moving guide · Orlando, FL
Orlando moving checklist: apartments, houses, and Central Florida relocations.
A practical, no-fluff checklist for moving in the Orlando metro — built from 31+ five-star moves we've done across Central Florida. Skim it, save it, and call us at (689) 600-2720 when you want a free quote.
30 days out
- Book your movers — Orlando weekends and end-of-month dates fill up fast. We confirm with a flat $50 deposit, applied to your invoice.
- Get a written estimate that lists crew size, hours, and any extras. Toro's rate is $75 per mover per hour with a two-hour minimum — no fuel, stair, or travel fees inside Central Florida.
- Notify your landlord or HOA in writing if your lease or rules require it. In downtown Orlando, Lake Nona, and Celebration high-rises, you'll often need to reserve a freight elevator.
- Start a "sell, donate, trash" pile. Every box you don't move saves billable minutes on the day.
Two weeks out
- Order or buy boxes. A small Orlando apartment runs ~25 boxes; a three-bedroom house, ~80. We can drop empties off the day before.
- Schedule utility transfers — OUC or Duke Energy, Spectrum or AT&T fiber, water and waste with the city.
- File your USPS change of address. Update your driver's license at the Orange/Seminole/Osceola tax collector within 30 days of moving in Florida.
- Pack the rooms you use least first — guest bedrooms, off-season clothes, books, holiday décor.
Week of
- Confirm the move time, parking, and elevator with your building. We'll text you the crew lead's name and ETA the night before.
- Pack a "day-one" box: phone chargers, toilet paper, sheets, coffee, plates, a kettle, kids' or pets' essentials. Label it loud.
- Defrost the freezer, drain the washer, and disconnect gas appliances at least 24 hours out.
Move day
- Be on site at start time. Walk the crew through the home and point out the "do not move" pile.
- Keep cash, jewelry, passports, and your day-one box with you — never on the truck.
- At the new place, stand near the door and direct boxes by room label. Five seconds at the door saves five minutes upstairs.
- Tip is optional but appreciated when crews go above and beyond. We make it easy at the end via the same Stripe link as the balance.
