That said, the best day is the one that fits your lease, your closing, and your schedule — the tips below help you book the smartest slot whenever you have to move.

Cheapest days: mid-month and mid-week

Because local moves are billed by the hour, the cost depends on your move — not the date. But timing still matters for availability and how rushed the day feels. Lease turnovers cluster at the end and start of each month, and weekends fill first, so those slots book out earliest.

Summer: heat and afternoon storms

Hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30. The vast majority of those days are perfectly fine to move, but if a named storm is in the forecast, keep your plans flexible — don't schedule a move for the day a system is expected to hit the area.
